Patients with Covid-19 who are being treated with an experimental drug called remdesivir are recovering rapidly.
STAT News reported that most of them have gone home within days.
Patients who participated in a clinical trial of the drug had severe respiratory symptoms and fever, but were able to leave the hospital after less than a week of treatment.
"The best news is that most of our patients have recovered, which is great. We have lost only two patients, "said Dr. Kathleen Mullane, an infectious disease specialist at Agoikagos University in the United States.
There is no approved therapy for Covid-19, but the National Institutes of Health is reviewing some medications and other treatments, including remdesivir.
